In 2014, Puri Jagannadh announced his next film, "Faraar", which would be an adaptation of the novel "Moli Nari Bole" by author Krishna Sobti. He stated that the original novel was not big-budget but talked about hope for women in the society, so the team preferred to work on it. The script then went through multiple drafts until director Puri Jagannadh finalized it. The script was titled "Musees", which is a combination of Maraari and Muse. Meanwhile, Puri Jagannadh worked on a film titled "Magic in the Moonlight" in Canada. He signed a non-film contract with Fox International to work on projects related to actors George Clooney and Brad Pitt. The scripts for both were ready but the team decided to wait for an opportunity in India before moving ahead with projects related to them. Puri Jagannadh had written the first draft of the story but the initial focus was on two sisters who were married off by their Tamilian father after getting separated due to an accident that broke out when they were young. The story was set in Tamil Nadu and California. He then changed the script to make the narrative focused on a Telugu family and shifted it to USA and Canada. The film was initially titled as "Uyyala Jampala", which is the title of a Telangana folk song, but later changed due to copyright issues. Naga Babu agreed to fund the film, which was made on a budget of 250 million. It is one of the most expensive ventures in Tollywood. It features two women with contrasting life styles and past relationships who return home for their daughter's marriage, with multiple complications leading to more complications. The brother of the character "Raju" was initially introduced as an antagonist, but later became a hero. The film was released on 1 September 2015. It received positive reviews from critics. It won several awards including National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Telugu and prestigious International Indian Film Academy Awards. Puri Jagannadh took to Twitter to announce that Nithya Menen has completed her part in the film and she will record her parts after completing the shoot of "Maheshinte Prathikaram".
